Emotional Archeology: Going Down to Go Up
Saturday, May 29th, 2021
9 a.m. through 11 a.m.
Description
For most of us our emotional history is buried under layer upon layer of stuff. These layers include experiences--good, bad, traumatic or ugly, sensory sensations and years of emotional flow that comprise the ups and downs of our daily lives.
Clients have a history about which they are often aware but not conscious of how it effects the present. These histories are written in the code of our brains, wired as emotions that are then triggered by current events. There is a growth component to them that moves toward survival and connection.
Helping clients understand and effectively use their emotions can help fight addiction, anxiety, and depression and move us toward our goals and God-given purpose.
This presentation will explore Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy, (AEDP) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), spiritual insights and what science is teaching us about the brain and emotions in life.
