          Description

This training session aims to provide participants with comprehensive insights into the various aspects surrounding HIV infection in the United States. Through a series of discussions, presentations, and interactive activities, attendees will delve into the epidemiology of HIV, examine the pervasive issue of stigma, explore mental health comorbidities associated with HIV, and understand the crucial role of therapists in supporting individuals living with HIV.


 Learning Objectives

Objective 1: Review the epidemiology of HIV Infection in the United States.

Objective 2: Define HIV related stigma and its related barriers to care.

Objective 3: Identify mental health comorbidities associated with HIV.

Objective 4: Examine the role of therapists in supporting individuals with HIV.

Leonardo Aguilar is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with cumulative experience in the fields of Disability Advocacy, Social work and mental health treatment. Leonardo is currently a Program Coordinator and faculty for the Southeast Aids Education and Training Center.
